New Delhi: The T20 World Cup has seen defending champions India continue strong momentum after a comprehensive 93-run win over Namibia in a Group A match at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

India have posted 209 for nine after being put into bat, before bowling Namibia out for 116 in 18.2 overs to register a second successive victory. The result in the T20 World Cup has placed India at the top of the group on net run rate, narrowly ahead of Pakistan, with both teams on four points from two matches.

The win has also set the stage for a high-profile clash between the Asian rivals in Colombo. Opener Ishan Kishan has led India’s batting with a rapid 61, while Hardik Pandya has added 52 in the middle order. Early momentum came through aggressive strokeplay, with Kishan accelerating quickly after an early reprieve.

India have reached 50 inside five overs and continued scoring briskly through the innings. Pandya and Shivam Dube have provided a late flourish that pushed the total beyond the 200 mark.

Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus has claimed four wickets to slow India’s progress briefly, but Namibia have struggled to maintain partnerships during the chase. Despite positive starts from a few batters, regular wickets have derailed the pursuit.

India’s bowlers have kept tight control from the start. Jasprit Bumrah has delivered disciplined overs and taken a key wicket, while Varun Chakravarthy has returned figures of three for seven. Axar Patel and Pandya have also contributed with two wickets each, helping wrap up the innings comfortably.

Abhishek Sharma has remained unavailable after a recent illness, leading to adjustments in the batting order. Even so, India have managed to deliver a balanced performance with contributions across departments.

The victory in the T20 World Cup has reinforced India’s status as strong contenders for the next stage, while Namibia have faced challenges against the defending champions. Attention now turns to the upcoming India-Pakistan fixture, which is expected to play a decisive role in Group A standings.
