    Heavy rain triggers deadly mudslide in Jiangxi Province

    This deadly mudslide has damaged 12 homes after torrential rain from Typhoon Saudel hit Gaoping Town in Jiangxi Province.

    Beijing: Torrential rain from Typhoon Saudel has triggered a deadly mudslide in Jiangxi Province, killing 1 person and leaving 11 others missing in Suichuan County.

    The mudslide struck around 4 a.m. on September 5 in Gaoping Town, according to local authorities. More than 10 people were trapped after the landslide hit the town during the early morning hours. The heavy rainfall brought by Typhoon Saudel triggered the mudslide in Jiangxi Province.

    The mudslide damaged 12 houses in Gaoping Town, Suichuan County, according to a statement from the county authorities. The extent of the damage prompted an emergency response as efforts continue in the area. The incident has caused significant damage in the affected area as emergency teams respond to the disaster.

    Local authorities confirmed 1 death following the incident. A further 11 people remain missing as rescue efforts continue to locate those who may have been caught in the landslide. More than 10 people were trapped when the mudslide struck the town.

    The incident occurred shortly after torrential rain affected the area under the influence of Typhoon Saudel. The disaster highlights the immediate risks posed by heavy rainfall in areas affected by the typhoon. Gaoping Town has been the focus of rescue and response efforts following the early morning landslide.

    Authorities continue to assess the situation in Suichuan County as efforts to find the missing people remain underway. The mudslide damages homes and resulted in 1 confirmed death, while 11 people are still unaccounted for following the incident. Rescue teams continues searching the affected area as heavy rain raises concerns about further landslides.
