Karachi: Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has set a new world record for the fastest half-century in women’s T20 (T20I) international cricket, reaching the milestone in just 15 balls during a dominant performance against Zimbabwe in Karachi.
Playing at the National Stadium, the all-rounder led from the front with a blistering 62 off 19 deliveries, helping Pakistan seal a comprehensive 133-run victory and complete a 3-0 series sweep. Sana’s explosive knock broke the previous record of an 18-ball fifty, jointly held by Sophie Devine of New Zealand, Phoebe Litchfield of Australia and India’s Richa Ghosh.
Walking in with intent from the first ball, Sana opened her account with a boundary past point and never looked back. Her innings featured 10 fours and two sixes, as she dismantled the Zimbabwe bowling attack with a staggering strike rate of 326.

Pakistan posted a commanding 223 for 4 in their 20 overs, with Sana top-scoring before also contributing with the ball, taking one wicket as Zimbabwe were bundled out for 90 in 17.1 overs. Sana was named Player of the Match for her all-round brilliance, continuing her strong run as Pakistan’s key performer in white-ball cricket since taking over the captaincy.
The 24-year-old has been in impressive form over recent months, including two ODI half-centuries against World Cup finalists South Africa. In her last 10 limited-overs matches, she has scored 283 runs and taken 18 wickets, underlining her growing impact as a leading all-rounder in international cricket.
