Tulsa: US country music star Ella Langley has cancelled her sold-out concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, citing a serious security threat that raised concerns about the safety of fans, venue staff and her team.

The 27-year-old singer made the incredibly difficult decision, approximately two hours before she was scheduled to perform at the BOK Centre, a venue with a capacity of 19,000 people.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Langley stated that the decision was made following a threat involving the safety of everyone attending and working at the event. She apologised to fans for the cancellation and said further information about ticket refunds would be provided as soon as possible.

Tulsa Police Department Captain Richard Meulenberg remarked that authorities received a phone call warning that great harm would be caused at the event, with threats involving gunfire and bombs.

Police had inspected the BOK Centre several times before the concert and found no indication of a threat, Meulenberg stated. Following the phone call, officers, including personnel accompanied by sniffer dogs, conducted another security sweep of the arena.

Despite the searches, authorities found no credible threat, according to Meulenberg. Meulenberg emphasised the caller had disrupted the event, disappointing thousands of fans who had planned to attend the sold-out performance.

The BOK Centre also issued a statement confirming the cancellation, emphasising that the safety and well-being of everyone involved remained its highest priority. The venue apologised to concertgoers for the disappointment caused by the decision.

Langley has emerged as one of country music’s prominent rising stars, with her song Choosin’ Texas achieving major success on the US charts. In September, the track overtook Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You to become the longest-running number-one single in US chart history.

The song’s success also contributed to Langley’s achievements at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May, where she secured multiple honours. The cancellation comes amid growing attention surrounding the singer’s career and commercial success.
