London: Actor Bill Nighy has won the Best Host award at the 10th annual British Podcast Awards for his advice and lifestyle podcast Ill-Advised, beating fellow nominees including Louis Theroux, Katherine Ryan and Lily Allen.
The 76-year-old actor, known for films such as Love Actually, Living and the Underworld franchise, has gained recognition for his role as an agony uncle on the podcast. Organisers described Ill-Advised as an ‘irresistibly endearing series’ that combines Nighy’s dry wit with reflections on life, music and books.
Billed as a podcast for people who don’t get out much and can’t handle it when they do, Ill-Advised features Nighy offering listeners humorous, thoughtful advice while sharing his observations on everyday life.
The awards ceremony also recognised several other popular podcasts and hosts. Pete Wicks’ Man Made secured two awards, winning Best Interview Podcast and Best Health & Wellbeing Podcast for its exploration of modern masculinity.
