Ho Chi Minh City: Danish jewellery maker Pandora has opened a $150 million factory in Ho Chi Minh City, its largest manufacturing facility and its first production site outside Thailand, as the company moves to diversify its manufacturing footprint and strengthen supply-chain resilience.

The Vietnam facility is Pandora’s fourth factory worldwide and is expected to increase the company’s overall manufacturing capacity by around 50 percent. It is projected to employ 7,000 workers when fully operational.

Pandora sold 112 million pieces of jewellery in 2025 and has so far manufactured all its products in Thailand, where it operates three factories. At the opening ceremony, Pandora CEO Berta de Pablos-Barbier joined Vietnamese officials to unveil the first piece of jewellery produced at the new facility.

Described by Pandora as the world’s largest fine jewellery crafting facility, the plant will have the capacity to produce up to 60 million pieces annually. De Pablos-Barbier stated that Vietnam will initially account for around 15 percent of Pandora’s global production capacity, rising to about one-third by 2030 when the factory reaches full capacity.

The CEO added that the company was building the facility with a long-term outlook and would focus on operational efficiency and business integration in response to volatility, including uncertainty over potential higher US tariffs on goods manufactured in Vietnam.

Pandora, the world’s biggest jewellery brand by items sold, sells silver charm bracelets starting at $80 and has recently reported weak consumer demand in the United States, its largest market.

Built on a 7.5-hectare (18.5-acre) site in Ho Chi Minh City’s business and manufacturing hub, the factory is located directly opposite a facility operated by Danish company Lego. Its production will support demand across Pandora’s global business rather than specific export markets.

    Vietnam- why?

Vietnam was selected as the location because of its skilled workforce, long jewellery-making tradition, strong infrastructure and supportive business environment, according to De Pablos-Barbier, who took over as CEO on January 1.

The factory will also support Pandora’s plans to increase production of platinum-plated jewellery as the company expands beyond its traditional focus on silver and reduces its exposure to fluctuations in silver prices.

The facility has received LEED Gold certification and will run entirely on renewable electricity. All silver and gold used at the site will be recycled, while Pandora is also exploring further renewable energy options, including on-site solar generation and a potential partnership for a solar farm.
