France: Kylian Mbappe, the French star forward, is set to clinch the top scorer title in the league for the fifth consecutive season, having scored an impressive 28 goals thus far.
Mbappe expressed his delight at the achievement, stating that he always aimed to make his mark in the league’s history and win accolades. Surprisingly, he admitted not expecting to achieve such success at such a rapid pace.
Mbappe’s decision to remain with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) became evident last season when he turned down an offer from Real Madrid. He extended his contract for an additional three years, binding him to PSG. However, reports suggest that the 24-year-old’s contract may expire next year unless he exercises an option to extend it until 2025.
When questioned about his future at an awards ceremony, Mbappe confidently declared that he would be staying with PSG for the upcoming season. His latest win marks his fourth time receiving the prize, surpassing Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s three-time achievement with PSG since the award’s inception in 1994.
Franck Haise, the coach of Lens, was honoured as the Coach of the Season for guiding the club to a remarkable second-place finish and a return to Champions League football after a two-decade absence. Additionally, Lens goalkeeper Brice Samba received recognition, while Paris Saint-Germain’s left-back, Nuno Mendes, earned the Best Young Player award.
Mbappe was among the four PSG players named in the Team of the Season, alongside Lionel Messi, Achraf Hakimi, and himself, highlighting the club’s exceptional talent and dominance throughout the campaign.
