United States: The victory parade of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl Championship 2024, has taken the form of a chaotic scenario after a shooting broke out in Kansas City, Missouri. The reports were saying one person died and at least 21 others were injured by the gunfire that took place at the end of the event.
Radio station KKFI in Kansas City reported that the host of “Taste of Tejano,” DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, was killed during the shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl Parade. This radio station has confirmed the host’s passing on its Facebook page, noting that the “senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC community.”
Earlier official reports said one person was killed in the shooting, without specifying whether it was Lopez-Galvan or someone else. Lopez-Galvan was also rumoured to be the second confirmed victim. The host has died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen during surgery at the hospital. The official announcement came from her friends who confirmed the information with her family.
In the statement they wrote that, “It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of Taste of Tejano lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally. Our hearts and prayers are with her family.”
A police report from Kansas City indicates that the shooting occurred west of Union Station, outside near the garage, as Chiefs fans were departing after the rally. The detention of three suspects has been completed. It was reported that at least one firearm had been recovered.
In the absence of clear motives, there is no information available. Currently, authorities are attempting to determine the total number of victims. The Kansas City Fire Department reported that eight people suffered “immediately” life-threatening injuries and seven suffered life-threatening injuries.
