Fujairah: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the recent attack on the UAE’s Fujairah region, which left three Indian nationals injured, calling the targeting of civilians and infrastructure ‘unacceptable.’

In a statement shared on X, Modi reiterated India’s solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and emphasised the need for peaceful conflict resolution. Modi stressed that ensuring safe and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains critical for regional stability and global energy security.

The response comes after a drone strike triggered a fire at a key oil facility in Fujairah, amid escalating tensions in West Asia. UAE authorities have accused Iran of being behind the attack, though the situation continues to evolve.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs also issued a strong condemnation, with spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal describing the incident as ‘unacceptable’ and urging an immediate halt to hostilities targeting civilians. Randhir Jaiswal reaffirmed India’s position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace across the region.

Officials highlighted the importance of maintaining ‘free and unimpeded navigation and commerce’ through the Strait of Hormuz, aligning with international law and broader global economic interests. The Indian Embassy in the UAE confirmed that the injured nationals are receiving medical treatment, adding that authorities are closely coordinating with local officials to ensure their well-being.

The incident comes against the backdrop of a fragile US-Iran ceasefire, with rising tensions particularly centred around the strategically vital maritime corridor. UAE officials stated that their air defence systems successfully intercepted multiple missiles and drones, underscoring their readiness to counter any threats to national security.

The latest developments have renewed global concern over stability in West Asia, especially given the region’s central role in energy supply chains and international trade.
