    Anwar Ibrahim gets to work as Malaysian Prime Minister

    The South Asian country's new Prime Minister declared that he would guarantee and safeguard the rights of all Malaysians, regardless of race or religion.

    Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Mr. Anwar Ibrahim has started his work as Malaysia’s Prime Minister after promising to lead a government that would be inclusive of everyone in the multiethnic, multireligious Southeast Asian country.

    The Reformist leader reached the Prime Minister’s office in the nation’s administrative capital, Putrajaya, after being sworn into office by the king on 24th November.

    The veteran politician has attended his first Press Conference as Prime Minister and sketched out the plans for the country.

    We will never compromise on good governance, the anti-corruption drive, judicial independence and the welfare of ordinary Malaysians.

    Mr. Anwar Ibrahim declared.

    The newly elected Prime Minister declared that he does not require a salary and that his government would “guarantee and safeguard the rights of all Malaysians, especially the marginalized and impoverished, regardless of race or religion.”

    Mr. Anwar has also received a congratulatory call from Turkey’s President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan after sharing a video on social media of him chatting with Indonesia’s President Mr. Joko Widodo.

    The US Secretary of State, Mr. Antony Blinken, also congratulated the newly elected Prime Minister and the Malaysian citizens, citing the record number of votes cast in the Election.

    Mr. Blinken also added that the US is looking forward to deepening friendship and cooperation with Malaysia based on shared democratic principles and respect for human rights and the rule of law. Also, the US will remain committed to working with Malaysia to advance a free and open, connected, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific region.
