Zhengou, China: Hundreds of employees at Apple’s iPhone-manufacturing plant in the Chinese city of Zhengou clashed with security guards as problems arose after almost a month under strict restrictions intended to prevent a COVID outbreak.

Workers at the Foxconn Technology Group Plant rushed out of dormitories in protest against white-clad guards.

Several white-suited people attacked a person lying on the ground with sticks according to the videos posted by the employees.

A screenshot from a video of Foxconn workers clashing with police officers outside the dormitory compound has spread over social media.

The Protest began overnight due to unpaid wages and concerns about virus’s spread. Several workers were injured, and anti-riot police reached the scene to restore order.

More than 200,000 employees at iPhone City have been thrown into isolation with inadequate meals and forced to scrounge for medication.

Foxconn and the local government have recently brought the situation under control, promising high wages and better working conditions to attract new staff. But ongoing protests suggest that is no longer the case.

Recently, Apple has also warned that shipments of its newest premium iPhones will be lower this month than previously expected due to the COVID-19 threats in the Zhengzhou Plant.
