Qatar: American-style pale lager beer maker Budweiser is set to offer all of its extra FIFA World Cup 2022 beer to the winning team after the host nation, Qatar suddenly banned beer from the stadiums.
According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Qatar put a last-minute ban on the selling of beer at the World Cup stadiums. The FIFA President stated during a news conference that, sports enthusiasts can go three hours without drinking.
If for three hours a day you cannot drink beer, you will survive. Maybe there is a reason why in France, Spain, and Scotland, alcohol is banned in stadiums. Maybe they (Qataris) are more intelligent than us, had thought maybe we should be doing that.
Mr. Gianni Infantino shared.
Soon after this, Budweiser brand owner and the world’s largest brewer, Anheuser-Busch InBev observed in a statement that, “some of the planned stadium activations cannot move forward due to circumstances beyond our control.”
Beer sales were previously permitted at the official World Cup stadiums in Qatar, where Budweiser is also one of the FIFA 2022 official sponsors. Alcohol will be allowed in the FIFA Fan Festival, a designated party area with live entertainment and activities, for football fans.
An Ecuadorian fan expressed his disappointment over the abrupt decision. Moreover, two England fans claimed they ended up at a Sheikh’s palace while looking for beer in Qatar. Mr. John, one of the fans, claimed that when going for a drink the previous evening, he had the opportunity to meet with the royalty.
