United States: The Pop Superstar Ms. Taylor Swift stated that watching fans struggle to buy tickets for her next US tour is “excruciating.”
Recently, several fans who purchased tickets through the presale have claimed that the website kept crashing after spending hours in line.
The Ticketmaster was severely criticized over the handling of sales when presale sites had widespread breakdowns and the main sale was subsequently cancelled.
The veteran pop star added that, “it’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse.”
Ms. Swift also shared that it was “truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets” but she also found it upsetting that, “a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them”.
On the evening of 18th November, the Ticketmaster had issued a statement to apologize and explain what went wrong.
“First, we want to apologize to Taylor and all of her fans – especially those who had a terrible experience trying to purchase tickets,” the Ticketmaster stated .
The issues have refocused the discussion on Ticketmaster’s dominance in the US, which has long been the target of charges that it exploits its control over the sector, with US Democratic Senator Ms. Amy Klobuchar stating that a Congressional hearing would be held to investigate the website.
Last month, US President Mr. Joe Biden has also stated that his administration would look into fees on concert tickets.
