The extremely popular historical drama television series, The Crown garnered significant views last week as the first season entered Netflix’s Top 10 after the death of Queen Elizabeth.

According to the global streaming giant, “HRH Queen Elizabeth II was in the hearts and minds of viewers,”. The Season 1 of the Series was put in the No. 7 spots on the service.

The prestigious Netflix series began in 2016, and since then four seasons have been released, with two more expected to come. The show attempted to document the Queen’s entire reign, from her uncle’s abdication, the coronation, as well as the ups and downs of the royal family over the past decades.

The revival comes just months before The Crown’s fifth season hits Netflix. The release date is yet to be announced but it is expected to be streaming in November 2022. As time progresses, the new season will again see a revamped cast. This will be the third renewal in the life of the show.

According to Hollywood trades, filming on Season 6 of The Crown has been halted in honor of the Queen’s death. Netflix recently announced that Mr. Rufus Kamba and Mr.  Ed McVay will play Prince William and Ms. Meg Bellamy will play Kate Middleton in upcoming episodes.

The Crown has become a critically acclaimed hit since its premiere, winning 21 Emmys so far. The show’s director Mr. Stephen Daldry previously told media that the series had long plans in place for the historical monarch’s death.

“None of us know when that time will come but it would be right and proper to show respect to the Queen. It would be a simple tribute and a mark of respect. She’s a global figure and it’s what we should do,” Mr. Stephen Daldry shared about the Emmy-winning series.
