Ahmedabad: Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has delivered a sensational performance to guide Rajasthan Royals to a commanding eight-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
The young opener smashed a blistering 15-ball half-century, marking one of the fastest fifties of the season and the third 50-plus score in his brief eight-match IPL career. His explosive knock set the tone early, dismantling Chennai’s bowling attack during the powerplay.
Opening alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sooryavanshi powered Rajasthan to 74 without loss in the first six overs. The duo stitched together a rapid 75-run partnership before Sooryavanshi was dismissed for 52 off just 17 balls, an innings packed with five sixes and four boundaries.

Chasing a modest target of 128, Rajasthan cruised to victory in just 12.1 overs, showcasing their dominance with both bat and ball. Speaking after the match, Sooryavanshi said the team’s approach was clear from the outset. Sooryavanshi explained that the plan was to capitalise on the powerplay after restricting Chennai to a low total, adding that the opposition could have turned the game had they bowled tighter in the early overs.
The teenager also credited head coach Kumar Sangakkara and the support staff for encouraging him to trust his natural attacking game and read match situations effectively. Earlier, Rajasthan’s bowlers laid the foundation for the win with a disciplined performance. Chennai were reduced to 41 for 4 by the end of the powerplay and never fully recovered, eventually being bowled out for 127 in 19.4 overs.
South African pacer Nandre Burger starred with the ball, claiming 2 for 26 and earning the Player of the Match award. Nandre Burger was well supported by Jofra Archer and Ravindra Jadeja, who picked up two wickets each. Rajasthan Royals will next face Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, while Chennai Super Kings return home to take on Punjab Kings.
