London: Following the release of the Epstein files, British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the second son of the late Queen Elizabeth, has been arrested. Reports indicate that the arrest occurred, coinciding with Andrew’s 66th birthday.

The arrest comes after official government records surfaced showing that Andrew had provided information to Jeffrey Epstein. Earlier this month, police confirmed that an investigation into Prince Andrew was underway.

Prince Andrew had been under pressure to cooperate with officials investigating the sexual crimes of convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein. While Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the new disclosures released by the US Department of Justice, royal sources indicated that Andrew would not be prevented from giving testimony.

The arrest was carried out by Thames Valley Police at Andrew’s temporary residence, Sandringham Estate. Police did not reveal his name in the announcement, citing standard guidelines on withholding the identity of arrested individuals.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that everyone is equal before the law and no one is above it. The PM made this remark in response to a question regarding Prince Andrew. Starmer added that if he is asked to testify to the US investigative team about his connections with Epstein, he should comply.

Reports indicate that no charges have currently been filed against the arrested Prince Andrew. If it is proven that official documents were misused based on the revelations in the Epstein files, it could lead to a life sentence. The severity of the case could also influence the punishment, and a trial will need to take place.

King Charles III commented that he is aware of Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest and that it is not appropriate for him to make further remarks on the matter. He emphasized that the law must take its course, and he, along with his family, will continue to serve and fulfill their duties for the people.

Investigations showed that in 2010, Prince Andrew had shared business-related reports connected to the UK government with Jeffrey Epstein. The Epstein files also included photographs of Andrew with women, as well as information regarding his foreign travels.

There were allegations that Epstein trafficked women to the UK for sexual encounters with Andrew. Despite Epstein being convicted for sexually abusing underage girls, Andrew reportedly maintained a friendship with him.

One of the most controversial claims came from Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who alleged that Prince Andrew sexually abused her when she was 17. Photographs with Andrew were submitted as evidence in the case.

Although Andrew denied the sexual abuse allegations, the release of evidence sparked widespread public outrage. In 2022, his military positions and royal patronages were revoked. After King Charles III ascended the throne, additional strict measures were taken against Andrew, including the removal of his royal status and eviction from royal residences.

This arrest marks a significant development in a case that has drawn international attention, highlighting ongoing legal scrutiny over the connections between high-profile figures and Epstein’s criminal activities.
