Beirut: Israel airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, targeted the area for the first time in nearly a week. This action followed a brief pause in strikes on the capital, which had seen daily bombardments and numerous evacuation orders.

The last significant strike on Beirut occurred on October 10, resulting in at least 22 fatalities and 117 injuries, according to the Lebanese health ministry.

The Israeli military (IDF) stated that the recent strikes aimed at Hezbollah weapons stored in an underground facility. Concurrently, 50 rockets were launched toward the northern Israeli town of Safed.

In Lebanon, local authorities reported that Israeli airstrikes also resulted in casualties across the eastern and southern regions of the country.

Meanwhile, in Gaza, the Israeli military claimed to have killed Hamas drone unit commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in an airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip. Al-Mabhouh was allegedly responsible for directing drone attacks against Israeli targets.

The military also reported killing over 50 “terrorists” in the Jabalia area through close-quarters encounters and aerial strikes.

As the conflict escalates, the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains critical. The United States has issued a warning to Israel to increase humanitarian aid access within 30 days or face a reduction in military assistance.

This comes after food aid was delivered to northern Gaza for the first time in two weeks, with the United Nations labelling conditions there as “desperate.”

In response to the ongoing conflict, the U.S. has begun sending components for an advanced anti-missile system to Israel, which is expected to enhance its defence capabilities and become operational soon.

According to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, Israeli strikes have led to 42,344 deaths in Gaza since October 7.
