Washington: As the US election draws near, both former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have turned their focus to Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, which carries a pivotal single electoral vote. Trump claimed victory in this district in 2016, while Biden won it in 2020.
In another key battleground, the state of Michigan, a fierce contest is underway. Current polling favours Harris, buoyed by her strong performance in the recent debate with Trump. However, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has cautioned that these dynamics could shift at any moment.
Meanwhile, a vice-presidential debate between Democratic candidate Tim Walz and Republican candidate JD Vance is scheduled for 1 October. It will mark the first time the two will face off publicly, with both seeking to sway undecided voters towards their respective parties.
Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin have traditionally been strongholds for the Democratic Party. With the exception of Trump’s win in 2016, Pennsylvania has been a key Democratic state since 1992.
