Siegen, Germany – A knife attack on a bus in western Germany has left five people injured, three of whom are in critical condition. The incident occurred on Friday evening in the town of Siegen, where a 32-year-old German woman allegedly stabbed fellow passengers. Police quickly apprehended the suspect after the attack, which took place while the bus was en route to a city festival.

At the time of the incident, there were at least 40 passengers on board. Authorities have confirmed that three victims are in life-threatening condition, while another is seriously injured, and a fifth sustained only minor injuries.

Investigation Ongoing, No Terrorist Links Found

Police are actively investigating the motive behind the attack but have stated that there are no indications it was an act of terrorism. The authorities have urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information, particularly on social media platforms, to prevent the circulation of false reports.

In a separate report, Germany’s Bild tabloid suggested that the attacker might have been suffering from mental health issues, although this claim has yet to be confirmed by officials.

Rise in Knife Crimes in Germany

This attack comes just one week after a deadly knife assault in Solingen that resulted in three fatalities and eight injuries. The Solingen incident involved a 26-year-old Syrian man, who was scheduled for deportation to Bulgaria. The back-to-back attacks have intensified concerns over the rising trend of knife-related crimes in Germany, prompting the government to consider new security and asylum measures.

As investigations continue, the police emphasize the importance of responsible communication, urging the public to rely on official channels for updates.
