United States: The US president Joe Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, confirmed in a late-night letter that Dr. Kevin Cannard, a Parkinson’s specialist who visited the White House eight times over eight months, examined President Biden for his annual physicals.
O’Connor’s letter claims that Canard’s visits to the White House are not assessments of the president. According to O’Connor’s letter, Cannard provides a variety of care for those at the White House besides the president.
“Prior to the pandemic, and following its end, [Cannard] has held regular Neurology clinics at the White House Medical Clinic in support of the thousands of active-duty members assigned in support of White House operations. Many military personnel experience neurological issues related to their service, and Dr. Canard regularly visits the WHMU as part of this General Neurology Practice,” his letter reads.
O’Connor mentioned that “President Biden has not seen a neurologist outside of his annual physical.”
Meanwhile, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre denied rumours that Joe Biden was receiving treatment for Parkinson’s disease, which can result in rigid movements and slurred speech, during the daily press briefing on Monday afternoon.
“Has the president been treated for Parkinson’s? Not at all. Is Parkinson’s disease treating him? No,” she responded.
She was answering in response to a question regarding a New York Times article stating that a Parkinson’s disease specialist had visited the White House eight times since the previous year, as per the media outlets.
In response to questions about privacy earlier on Monday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to confirm these data.
