United States: American actor Bill Cobbs has passed away at the age of 90. He was best known for his roles as security guard Reggie in the 2006 film “Night at the Museum” and as Bill Devaney, Whitney Houston’s manager, in the 1992 film “The Bodyguard.”
2014 saw the release of Secret Of The Tomb, the sequel to the former in which he also appeared. Cobbs is also noted for his turns as Dr. Elton Lloyd in Sunshine State, Moses the Clock Man in The Hudsucker Proxy, and Arthur Chaney in Air Bud.
He appeared on Sesame Street, The West Wing, The Sopranos, and ER, among other TV shows. Over his career, Cobbs had appearances in 200 movies and TV shows.
He was the recipient of an Emmy in 2020 for his excellent limited performance in a daytime program, Dino Dana.
In a statement on X, Wendell Pierce, who appeared alongside Cobbs in I’ll Fly Away and The Gregory Hines Show, described him as a “father figure”.
“To honour Bill and his memory, I will dedicate myself to creating work he would be proud of,” he said.
Air Bud, Sunshine State, Get Low, Ghosts of Mississippi, The Hudsucker Proxy, The Color of Money, Demolition Man, and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer were among the actor’s other cinematic credits.
In addition, he made guest appearances in episodes of CSI, Star Trek: Enterprise, One Tree Hill, LA Law, The West Wing, The Sopranos, NYPD Blue, and Six Feet Under.
