United States: Nearly every state in the United States was under weather alert for a hazardous Arctic blast that was bringing dangerous wind chills, blizzard conditions, and a lot of snow.

The National Weather Service reported that as of Saturday night, 44 million people were under a winter weather alert, 29 million were under a wind chill warning, and 64 million more were under a wind chill advisory.

Chicago has received at least five inches of snowfall so far, and through Saturday night, another half-inch to one-and-a-half inches are predicted. Moreover, strong winds could cause snow to blow into rural areas.

The National Weather Service shared on X that, “Several NWS offices across the Mid and Deep South are preparing for the potential of impactful winter weather Sunday into Monday. Freezing rain, snow, ice and very cold temperatures will be possible!” Most of the services are in trouble due to the life-threatening winter storm.

American aviation company, FlightAware, stated that over 1,100 flights were cancelled as of Saturday morning. It follows the cancellation of over 2,000 events on Friday.

A few people have died as a result of the hazardous conditions brought on by the snow and extremely low temperatures.

A blizzard that raged earlier on Saturday has resulted in whiteout conditions in the upper Midwest due to heavy snow and gusty winds. Des Moines, Iowa, has been hit with nine inches of snow, and Davenport, located on the eastern border with Illinois, was hit with 15 inches, as per the report.
