Qatar: The US Secretary of State, Mr. Antony Blinken, has stated that Palestinians must be free to return to their homes when conditions allow and should not be forced to leave Gaza.
Mr. Blinken denounced remarks made by a few Israeli ministers advocating for the relocation of Palestinians to other locations. During his most recent Middle East tour, the US official stopped in Qatar. Following reports that several people had died at a camp for refugees in northern Gaza, he made these remarks.
“Palestinian civilians must be able to return home as soon as conditions allow. They cannot, they must not be pressed to leave Gaza,” Mr. Blinken said.
Mr. Bezalel Smotrich, the far-right Finance Minister of Israel, has demanded that Palestinians evacuate Gaza so that Israelis who are capable of “making the desert bloom” can take their place.”
Additionally, this week, Mr. Itamar Ben-Gvir, the minister of national security, called for “encouraging the migration of Gaza residents” as a “solution” to the problem.
A destroyed building’s debris is seen in footage from Jabalia, and many of the bodies there are those of women and children. Regarding the reports, the Israeli military has not yet commented.
On the last day, the southern city of Khan Younis has reportedly seen the deaths of over 60 Palestinians.
The health ministry in Gaza, which is run by Hamas, reports that over 22,000 people have died there, the majority of them women and children. At least 113 deaths have been reported as a result of Israeli bombardment in a single day.
