United States: Jimmy Kimmel, an American television personality, will host the 96th Academy Award. It is his fourth time hosting the Oscars.
“I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times,” Kimmel stated in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences statement.
Kimmel is a popular comedian, writer, and producer, and he is the host and executive producer of the famous programme Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a late-night talk show.
“We are thrilled about Jimmy returning to host and Molly returning as executive producer for the Oscars. They share our love of movies and our commitment to producing a dynamic and entertaining show for our global audience,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang.
“We are deeply grateful to Jimmy, Molly and their teams for their incredible creativity and partnership and for going on this ride with us again.”
The 56-year-old TV personality has hosted the Oscars in 2017, 2018, and 2022. The 2022 Oscars, at which Sam Smith slapped Chris Rock, gained attention worldwide. The 96th Academy Awards is scheduled to take place on March 10, 2024, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
American comedian and actor Bob Hope holds the record for the most frequent Oscar emcee. Hope has hosted the Oscars 19 times as a solo or co-host. The voting procedures are ongoing, as some reports suggest.
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon are likely to be the nominees for best picture.
Hosting the Oscars is no easy job. It requires weeks of preparation and hard work for a 3-hour show. The show’s producer chooses the host. Most celebrities have not been willing to take the job because of the criticism they have to face if anything happens; it’s a world stage after all.
The 70th Oscars, where Titanic won the best film, is the most-viewed show to date. Approximately 80 million people watched that historic ceremony.
