Israel: Thousands of people have rallied in Tel Aviv, Israel, asking for the release of Israeli and foreign hostages from Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Most of the people were families and friends of the captives. They also questioned the Israeli government’s approach to handling the situation.

“Mr Prime Minister, cabinet members, do not talk to me about conquering, do not talk to me about flattening. Do not talk at all. Just take action … bring them home now,” Mr. Noam Perry, whose father was abducted from the town of Nir Oz, told the crowd at the protest, as per the statement.

“They ask us who our rage is directed at and it is all of humanity … but mainly, those who are responsible for us, those who have a contract with us,” said Mr. Jack Levy, another protester.

On October 7, 2023, over 240 individuals, including Israeli soldiers, civilians, and foreigners, were kidnapped in an assault on southern Israel. Authorities report that approximately 1,200 people, mostly civilians, lost their lives in the incident.

A couple of hundred Israeli left-wing activists, including both Arab and Jewish participants, conducted a distinct protest close to the Ministry of Defence in Tel Aviv.

They were advocating for a ceasefire, despite an ongoing suppression of anti-war voices and protests. Demands for a ceasefire have been growing from citizens around the world as well as from world leaders.

Israel’s Prime Minister, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, has dismissed the notion of a ceasefire “without the return of our hostages.” In contrast, the United States has proposed “humanitarian pauses” to facilitate the evacuation of civilians and the delivery of aid.
