London, UK: The British rock band Coldplay has sued their former manager Dave Holmes as he filed a lawsuit against the group for $12 million in “unpaid commission” in August 2023.

The former manager claims that the money is linked to two upcoming albums on which he worked with the group.

However, Coldplay has rejected the claims, and they want $17 million as compensation. When the case was filed, a Coldplay representative stated that they would strongly challenge the claims.

The group also alleged that Holmes used their relationship to obtain loans of $30 million from concert promoters Live Nation. The court documents, seen by The Times, also claim Holmes didn’t properly oversee or manage the tour budget.

The documents claim that costly equipment, including a $9.7 million oversized video screen and 16 custom stage pylons worth $11 million, was purchased or ordered and deemed unsuitable for its intended use.

The case could come to court if the parties do not settle, as per the statement. Dave Holmes has worked with the band from 2005 to 2022.

Coldplay was formed in London in 1997. The band includes vocalist and pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer Will Champion, and manager Phil Harvey.

They initially met at University College London, calling themselves Big Fat Noises and changing to Starfish before settling on the current name. Coldplay is one of the top-selling music acts of all time, having sold over 100 million albums globally.
