United States: Hurricane Lee is expected to strike parts of coastal New England and Atlantic Canada. It is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds that could lead to flooding in some areas.

The huge storm is expected to bring heavy rain, up to 4 inches, to parts of eastern New England and areas of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Due to its large size, Lee’s strong winds may cause power outages and potential flooding by knocking down power lines.

The Canadian Hurricane Centre issued a tropical storm warning for parts of New Brunswick, extending from the US-Canada border to Fort Lawrence, which includes Grand Manan Island. Additionally, there’s a tropical storm warning for the coast of Nova Scotia, from Fort Lawrence to Point Tupper.

Tropical storm conditions with winds of at least 39 mph are expected to start in southern New England on September 15, 2023 afternoon, the hurricane centre said.

As Lee neared the New England coast, Maine Governor Ms. Janet Mills declared a state of emergency on September 14, 2023. She asked for federal assistance to prepare for the approaching storm. The core of Lee, classified as a Category 1 hurricane, was approximately 215 miles northwest of Bermuda. It had strong winds, reaching a maximum of 85 mph, according to the hurricane centre.

Lee brought powerful winds and tropical storm conditions to Bermuda all day on September 14, 2023. This led to power outages across the island. The adverse weather conditions are anticipated to persist until September 15. 2023, morning. An island-wide tropical storm warning has been issued as the hurricane moves west of Bermuda.
