Caribbean: Australia have delivered a commanding performance to secure a 103-run victory over West Indies in the opening ODI in St Kitts, continuing their strong run after sweeping the T20 series. The result has highlighted Australia’s consistency and depth across formats during the tour.

Australia have posted an imposing total of 341 from 49.5 overs, setting a record for the highest women’s one-day international team score in the Caribbean. The innings has been built on a collective effort, with several batters contributing valuable runs rather than relying on a single dominant century.

Phoebe Litchfield has top-scored with a well-constructed 77, anchoring the innings at the top. Georgia Voll provided an energetic start, combining with Litchfield in a 75-run opening stand that set the platform. Ellyse Perry then accelerated the scoring with an aggressive 44, striking three sixes and maintaining pressure on the bowlers.

The middle order has ensured stability and momentum, with Sophie Molineux contributing 47 in a composed innings and Nicola Carey adding a quick 49. Their partnerships have allowed Australia to maintain a strong run rate throughout, pushing the total beyond the reach of West Indies.

In response, West Indies have managed 238 for 8 from their 50 overs. Stafanie Taylor has delivered a standout unbeaten 105, marking her eighth ODI century and first since 2021. Despite her efforts, the lack of substantial support from other batters has limited the chase.

Australia’s all-round performance has ultimately made the difference. Georgia Wareham has impressed with a quickfire 42 and a wicket, earning player of the match honours, while Kim Garth has played a key role with the ball, taking three wickets. The comprehensive win has given Australia a strong start to the ODI series.
