Tel Aviv, Israel: A deadly shooting in Tel Aviv attack has left seven people dead and several others seriously injured. The attackers targeted civilians in the Jaffa area, first opening fire inside a rail carriage before resuming their attack on the platform.

The bodies lay static on the roads, as emergency services rushed to the scene. The gunman and a second attacker, armed with a knife, were balanced by bystanders, according to police. Authorities have classified the incident as an act of terror, but the identities of the attackers have not yet been revealed.

Initial reports from Israeli media indicated a death toll of eight, though it remains indefinite whether that figure included the attackers themselves.

The shooting happened shortly before Iran launched a barrage of missiles toward Israel, escalating anxieties across the region. Eyewitnesses reported confusion in Tel Aviv as air raid sirens blasted, and police were seen taking cover as missiles and defence rockets lit up the sky above the city.

Benjamin Ratzon, a witness to the attack, conveyed the scene that, “People were on the ground and they told me to turn down. I saw the terrorist facing me. He wanted to do something, but protection forces reached quickly and ran towards him.”

Another witness told the Jerusalem Post that, they initially mistook the gunfire for fireworks before recognising the gravity of the situation. They reported that, “There were many gunshots. We descended to the floor, and people were crying. I saw someone bleeding on the ground.”

Local shop owners also recounted the horror of the attack. One quickly shut their store’s shutters as crowds ran through the streets, shouting “terror attack.”

At a nearby synagogue, worshippers, including medics from Israel’s ambulance service, MDA, quickly mobilized to treat the wounded. One eyewitness said that, “We treated a man who was wounded in the synagogue and then ran to the street to help others.”

The attacks in Tel Aviv come at a time of elevated tension in the region, with ongoing missile strikes further confusing the situation. Authorities continue to examine the incident as the city reels from the tragedy.
