United States: According to a recent report, Google’s email app is trying out a prominent and separate ‘Unsubscribe’ button positioned at the top of emails, similar to the one seen in the web version.
However, this change is specifically for the Gmail app on Android, and there’s no information about when it might arrive on iOS.
It would be easier and faster to unsubscribe from unsolicited mailing lists with the new unsubscribe button at the top, replacing the need to scroll down to the email and search for the unsubscribe link.
The unsubscribe link would probably be found throughout the email by Google, which would then display it as a prominent button at the top for easy access, according to the report.
This update will be coming to Android smartphones as part of the latest update of Gmail 2023.11.12, as per the report. There’s no official word on whether the feature will eventually make it to iOS.
Furthermore, the report states that Gmail for Android will also receive a predictive back navigation feature. This feature, which makes it easier to return to the previous page in Gmail, is limited to Android 14 smartphones. Both of the recently announced Gmail features are supposedly currently concealed behind flags but should soon be available to all qualified Android Gmail users.
Last month, news surfaced that Gmail was planning to introduce emoji reactions for both iOS and Android. This feature would allow recipients to respond to emails using emojis, akin to the functionality already available on Microsoft Outlook.
