United States: The chief of the main UN agency operating in Palestine has told the UN Security Council that the entire population of Gaza is “being dehumanised.”

Mr. Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner general of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), said that thousands of children died in Gaza in the past few weeks and that there “cannot be collateral damage.”

“An immediate humanitarian ceasefire has become a matter of life and death for millions,” Mr. Lazzarini remarked.

The director of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Ms. Lisa Doughten, told the council that, “we simply do not have enough essential supplies to provide for the survival of internally displaced people at this scale.”

Mr. Lazzarini stated that more than 8,000 Palestinians have now been killed in Israel’s attack, which included 64 UNRWA staff.

The Prime Minister of Israel, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, asserted that Israel would not agree to a ceasefire.

After the Hamas terror attack on October 7, 2023, which killed 1,400 people, Israel has been bombarding the Gaza Strip.

“Calls for a ceasefire or calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorists, surrender to barbarism, that will not happen,” Mr. Netanyahu noted.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah, over 8260 people have lost their lives in the Israel bombings in Gaza. The Ministry revealed that 70 percent of them were children, women, and elderly people.
