United States: Microsoft has identified a hacking group called “Flax Typhoon,” based in China, and has aimed its efforts at numerous Taiwanese government agencies, likely with the intention of spying on them. Flax Typhoon achieves and sustains long-term access to Taiwanese organisations’ networks with minimal use of malware, relying on operating system features and certain typically harmless software to discreetly stay within these networks. Taiwan, a self-ruled island that China claims as its territory, has consistently accused China of engaging in spying through cyberattacks on its government networks. ”Flax Typhoon has been active since mid-2021 and has targeted government agencies,…
United Kingdom: A new study has found that digestion problems such as constipation or difficulty swallowing can double the chance of developing Parkinson’s disease. The origins of Alzheimer’s disease, strokes, and brain aneurysms have been linked to the gastrointestinal tract. The study published in the BMJ journal stated that four gut conditions could be an early warning sign of Parkinson’s disease. “It is the first to establish substantial observational evidence that a clinical diagnosis of gut issues might specifically predict the development of Parkinson’s disease,” the authors noted. The study compared the medical records of 24,624 people in the US…
United States: The US Department of Justice (DoJ) has announced it is suing Mr. Elon Musk’s SpaceX. The rocket firm allegedly discriminates against refugees and asylum seekers in its hiring process. SpaceX falsely claimed that it was not allowed to hire non-US citizens, the DoJ said in a statement. SpaceX has to follow rules for shipping specific items abroad, but US law doesn’t demand that companies treat asylum seekers and refugees differently from citizens or green card holders, according to the Department. The Justice Department plans to request court-ordered fines for SpaceX and pursue compensation for asylum seekers and refugees…

The former president’s brief booking marks another moment in which the Republican candidate in the…

United States: A new study has found that bacteria that consume the greenhouse gas methane could slow the rate of global warming. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas emitted from energy (natural gas and petroleum systems), industry, agriculture, land use, and waste management activities. The researchers from California University Long Beach suggested a method of removing methane by using a group of bacteria known as methanotrophs to naturally convert methane to carbon dioxide and biomass. The lead researcher Ms. Mary E. Lidstrom noted that “all the bacteria in this group ‘eat’ methane, removing it from the air and converting part…
