United States: Tech giant Amazon has revealed that it will launch a business chatbot named Q powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI) during an annual conference in Las Vegas.
The annual conference hosted by the company for its AWS cloud computing service represents Amazon’s response to rivals that have introduced chatbots capturing the public’s attention.
Since the release of ChatGPT by San Francisco start-up OpenAI a year ago, there has been a significant increase in interest from the general public and industry players in generative AI tools that can produce textual content such as essays, marketing pitches, emails, and other passages that seem human.
Microsoft, the primary partner and financial supporter of OpenAI, initially benefited from this attention. It owns the rights to the underlying technology of ChatGPT and has utilised it to create its own line of generative AI tools, called Copilot.
However, competitors like Google were also prompted to release their own versions. According to Amazon, Q is capable of helping staff with tasks, streamlining daily communications, and synthesising content.
It stated that in order to receive a more relevant and customised experience, businesses can also link Q to their own data and systems. The technology is currently available for preview, as per the statement.
Amazon has been using cutting-edge technology to revolutionise commerce. Digit, a new bipedal robot from Amazon that can take on human jobs in warehouses, was unveiled a month ago. Digit can move, grasp, and handle items in spaces and corners of warehouses in new ways. Amazon noted that it has over 750,000 robots that work alongside its employees.
