United States: The business magnate, Mr. Elon Musk, has announced that X, formerly known as Twitter, will pay the legal bills of its users if they were treated unfairly by their bosses due to posting or liking something on the platform. Mr. Musk specified that there would be no limit to this financial assistance.

The Tesla CEO also asked users to “let me know” if they had experienced unfair treatment for posting or liking something. The platform has been facing many criticisms since changing its identity from Twitter to X last month.

The large flashing X sign on the Twitter headquarters’ roof was taken down one week ago after neighbours complained. It is understood that a wide range of people are not welcoming the changes the business magnet is making to the platform, as per the statement.

Mr. Musk’s purchase of Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022, along with its layoffs, has created much controversy. During the takeover, Mr. Musk said that, “free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”

The company that owns Twitter recently announced that it is suing an anti-hate organisation whose research criticises the platform. The Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) conducted research revealing that hate and disinformation were spreading rapidly on the platform under Mr. Musk’s ownership.

According to the reports, the CEO’s vision involves transforming X into an all-encompassing app catering to a wide spectrum of users’ online requirements, drawing inspiration from China’s popular WeChat, which provides multiple services for its users.
