Los Angeles, US: Leslie Jordan, an entertainer, actor, and musician best known for his work on “Will & Grace,” “American Horror Story,” and his inspirational viral Instagram videos, passed away in Hollywood following a car accident.
Earlier in the month, Jordan had published the gospel album “Company’s Comin’,” which included Dolly Parton and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, among others. The actor has also written a book about his life, “How Y’all Doing? : Misadventures and Mischief from a Life Well Lived”, which was published last year.
The actor’s social media popularity increased dramatically as his videos went viral, many of which showed him talking about his background and utilizing his catchphrase “How y’all doing?”. Leslie Jordan has more than 5.8 million social media followers.
Jordan was born and raised in Tennessee and later relocated to Los Angeles in 1982 to begin his show business career. Standing at about 4 feet 11 inches, he was renowned for his little stature and frequently portrayed flamboyant characters. Jordan gained recognition as Beverley Leslie in the American sitcom Will and Grace, for which he received a 2006 Primetime Emmy nomination.
He worked with Project Angel Food and the AIDS Project Los Angeles during the AIDS crisis.
In his statement, Leslie Jordan’s agent, David Saul shared that, “The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan. Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times.”
“What he lacked in height he made up for in generosity and greatness as a son, brother, artist, comedian, partner and human being. Knowing that he has left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today,” David Saul added.
