New York: According to the reports by Reuters, President Mr. Joe Biden has said that the United States had delivered a private message to Iran regarding the Iran-backed Houthis responsible for attacking commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

Mr. Biden had informed the media at the White House before the weekend retreat that, “We delivered it privately and we’re confident we’re well-prepared.”

The Houthi movement threatened a ‘strong and effective response’ after the United States carried out another strike in Yemen overnight. The action increased tensions as Washington vowed to protect shipping from attacks of Iran-aligned groups.

The latest strike, which hit a radar site according to the US, came a day after dozens of American and British strikes on Houthi facilities in Yemen.

White House spokesperson, Mr. John Kirby, stated that the initial strikes had hit the Houthis’ ability to store, launch and guide missiles or drones, which the group has used to threaten shipping.

Mr. Kirby added that, “Washington had no interest in a war with Yemen.
The media had asked Mr. Biden whether he felt the term “terrorist” described the movement now. “I think they are,” Biden answered. It was Mr. Biden’s administration that removed the term Houthi from a State Department list of ‘foreign terrorist organizations’ in 2021.
