United Kingdom: The Met Office, the national weather service for the United Kingdom, has issued fresh yellow weather warnings for snow and ice in northern Scotland and some southern regions of the country.
From Newcastle-upon-Tyne to below London, the warnings also cover the eastern coast of England. They are in force until 10 AM on Saturday. The forecaster stated that snow cover and some icy patches would result from wintry showers.
On icy surfaces, people may slip and fall and sustain injuries, and drivers may encounter hazardous driving conditions and delays in public transportation.
Three prior yellow weather warnings were in effect until Friday morning at 11 AM, at which point the new alerts were issued. Numerous schools in Cornwall were either fully or partially closed on Thursday as a result of the wintry weather.
Snow-related crashes were also reported on County Durham’s roads on the other end of England.
It was predicted that Friday morning would bring widespread frost, with overnight lows of -6°C in southwest England, -8°C in Wales, and -10°C in Scotland.
Through December 5th, the East Midlands, West Midlands, North West, North East, and Yorkshire and the Humber regions are all under an amber cold health alert from the UK Health Security Agency.
It worries that the health and social care sectors may be affected in a “significant” way, as per the statement. The UK is expected to stay in a northeasterly airflow for a few days, which means it will stay cold well into next week, according to the Met Office.
