London, UK: The former UK Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron, will be attending his first Cabinet meeting in 7 years.
The UK Prime Minister, Mr. Rishi Sunak, had reshuffled his cabinet, making Mr. James Cleverly as home secretary after Ms. Suella Braverman was sacked. Mr. Cameron replaces Mr. Cleverly as foreign secretary.
Mr. David Cameroon stepped down as prime minister and quit as an MP after losing the Brexit referendum in 2016.
Ex-Business Secretary Ms. Andrea Leadsom has taken on a junior role in the Department for Health and Social Care. Meanwhile, Mr. Damian Hinds has become a minister in the Department for Education, which he used to run.
Mr. Cleverly said he will continue his commitment to the government’s “stop the boats pledge” in his new position.
Mr. Cameroon has talked with US Secretary of State Mr. Antony Blinken. They “reiterated the strength and depth of the relationship between the UK and the US,” the Foreign Office stated.
“They discussed the conflict in the Middle East, Israel’s right to self defence and the need for humanitarian pauses to allow the safe passage of aid into Gaza,” the foreign office wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“They also expressed their continued support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s illegal war of aggression,” it remarked.
Mr. Sunak observed that he was “pleased to have appointed a new foreign secretary,” and added that the new cabinet is “a united team.”
“Today we have built a united team ready to deliver the changes this country needs for the long term. Professionalism, integrity and experience – this is a team that will be bold in making the right decisions for our great country, not the easy ones,” UK PM posted on X.
