London, UK: Ms. Suella Braverman, the UK’s sacked home secretary, has accused Mr. Rishi Sunak, the UK’s Prime Minister, of “betraying” a secret deal they made to secure her backing during the Tory leadership contest that led the way for him to become prime minister.
In a letter after being fired as home secretary, the Conservative Member of Parliament criticized Mr. Sunak, stating that he had continuously failed to fulfil important policies.
Ms. Braverman wrote that Mr. Sunak is “weak, uncertain, and lacking in leadership qualities.” The sacked home secretary noted that she agreed to join Mr. Sunak’s cabinet with specific conditions after Liz Truss’s time as prime minister fell apart.
The ex-home secretary mentioned that it included promises from the prime minister to lower net migration and create laws against the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) to execute the Rwanda deportation proposal.
“You have manifestly and repeatedly failed to deliver on every single one of these key policies,” Ms. Braverman said.
“Either your distinctive style of government means you are incapable of doing so. Or, as I must surely conclude now, you never had any intention of keeping your promises,” the former home secretary added.
Ms. Braverman was removed from her position as a home secretary during the prime minister’s reshuffling and was replaced by former foreign secretary Mr. James Cleverly.
Some within the Conservative Party’s right wing are upset about the shift, as per the statement. Mr. David Cameron’s return to the front bench to take Mr. Cleverly’s former position as a move toward the centre also sparked some talk.
