Manchester: The Guinness World Records has confirmed that Manchester toddler Jude Owens has become the youngest person to perform two separate trick shots in snooker, earning two official world records before turning three.
Jude completed a pool bank shot at the age of two years and 302 days on October 12, followed by a snooker double pot just five weeks earlier when aged two years and 261 days. The successful completion of both shots has made Jude the youngest individual ever to achieve each of these specific trick shots, setting a remarkable benchmark for junior cue sports.
Guinness World Records has recognized that performing even one of these shots requires accuracy, patience, and coordination that many adult players take years to master. Completing both within such a short time frame has added to the uniqueness of Jude’s accomplishment and highlighted exceptional early skill development.
Jude’s interest in snooker began at home, where the sport quickly became a favourite activity. According to Jude’s father, Luke Owens, the natural ability became clear when Jude began holding and moving the cue with ease. Luke Owens has explained that Jude adapted to the equipment instinctively, displaying confidence and control uncommon for a toddler.
Because of Jude’s height, the family initially used bar stools to help reach the snooker table. The setup later evolved into using a kitchen stool, allowing Jude to practise more comfortably and safely. This simple adjustment enabled regular practice sessions that helped develop hand-eye coordination and consistency.
Jude has already mastered techniques that many adults struggle with, including floating bridge shots and using the rest to pot balls accurately. These skills require advanced positioning and balance, which makes the achievements even more impressive for a child of such a young age.
The young player has also gained recognition within professional snooker circles. Jude was given a special walk-on entrance during the 2025 UK Snooker Championship, marking a rare honour for someone so young. In addition, Jude has become the youngest-known person to receive a snooker sponsorship, further reflecting growing interest in the talent.
Meetings with professional players such as Kyren Wilson, John Parrott, and Jimmy White have added to the experience. Luke Owens has shared that all expressed admiration for Jude’s natural skill and confidence at the table. Such encounters have encouraged further development and enthusiasm for the sport.
Confidence has become one of Jude’s defining traits. When asked who would win a snooker match between father and son, Jude confidently replied that victory would belong to Jude Owens. The response reflected both playful determination and belief in personal ability.
