Gaza City: Two journalists were killed in an Israeli air strike. The deceased were associated with AFP and Al Jazeera news agencies. Mustafa Thuraya from AFP and Hamza Wael Al-Dahdouh from Al Jazeera Television are the ones who lost their lives.
The car they were traveling in was hit by an Israeli missile, as reported by Al Jazeera. Meanwhile, the number of journalists killed in Israeli attacks has now reached 109.
Hamza Wael Dahdouh, son of Wael al-Dahdouh, the chief of Al Jazeera’s Gaza bureau, was among the deceased. In an Israeli air strike in October 2023, Wael al-Dahdouh’s wife, daughter, another son, and a grandchild were killed, and Dahdouh himself was injured.
The Israeli military has not yet commented on the incident. The Israel-Hamas war, which started with a brutal attack on Israeli civilians by Hamas on October 7, has claimed the lives of numerous journalists. Until Saturday, 77 journalists were reported killed by the Committee for the Protection of Journalists (CPJ).
The three-month-long war has plunged Gaza into a dire situation amidst pandemics and famine. Since October 7, the number of Palestinians killed has risen to 22,722, with 58,166 injured. In the last 24 hours alone, 122 people were killed and 256 were injured, according to reports.
