Washington: Trump and Netanyahu have agreed on a Gaza peace plan aimed at ending hostilities and laying foundations for long-term stability.
The plan calls for an immediate cessation of military operations, with Hamas releasing 20 living Israeli hostages and the remains of over two dozen deceased hostages within 72 hours. In exchange, Israel will release hundreds of detained Gazans.
The proposal demands that Hamas will have no role in governing Gaza, while leaving the door open for an eventual Palestinian state. It includes a staged withdrawal of Israeli forces and the destruction of Hamas tunnels and weapons production facilities. Full humanitarian aid will be sent into Gaza once both sides comply with the agreement.
The plan envisions temporary governance by a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee under the supervision of an international transitional body, the Board of Peace, headed by Trump. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair will participate, alongside other international leaders yet to be announced. The proposal also emphasises economic development to rebuild Gaza.

The Palestinian Authority has described Trump’s efforts as sincere and committed, reaffirming its cooperation to end the war, facilitate humanitarian aid, and secure the release of hostages.
Regional and international actors, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan, have welcomed the plan, supporting discussions toward a two-state solution integrating Gaza and the West Bank.
European and Western leaders have broadly endorsed the proposal. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called on all sides to finalise the plan and release hostages, while French President Emmanuel Macron and European Council President Antonio Costa emphasised seizing this opportunity to advance lasting peace.
The Gaza peace plan marks a significant diplomatic initiative, blending security measures, governance restructuring, and economic recovery, aiming to stabilise the region while setting the stage for broader negotiations toward an independent Palestinian state.
