United States: President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to reverse what he called “four long years of American decline, in a fiery speech at the “Make America Great Again (MAGA) Victory Rally” in Washington, DC.
Speaking to a crowd of 20,000 at the Capital One Arena, Trump promised a transformative first 100 days, declaring that, “We’re going to give them the best first day, the biggest first week, and the most extraordinary first 100 days of any presidency in American history.”
Trump sketched an ambitious agenda for his upcoming presidency, including immediate actions to crack down on illegal immigration, promote oil drilling, and reduce the size of the federal workforce. Trump also signalled his intent to erase executive orders from the Biden administration, emphasising that his presidency would mark the dawn of a new era of American strength and prosperity.
Trump stated that, “We are going to end the reign of a failed and corrupt political establishment in Washington,” continuing to rally his supporters with bold promises of change. The event also featured formations by prominent figures such as tech billionaire Elon Musk, country music artists Kid Rock and Lee Greenwood, and actor Jon Voight, who praised Trump for his steadfast commitment to the American people.
As Trump prepares for his swearing-in ceremony, he also hinted at releasing historical files connected to high-profile assassinations, including those of President John F. Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr.
The inauguration ceremony will take place indoors at the Capitol building due to cold weather, marking the official commencement of Trump’s second term as the 47th President of the United States.
