United States: Donald Trump has undergone his annual medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre in Bethesda, Maryland, a routine check-up that could offer the public its first exhaustive look at the president’s health in years.
Trump stated that, “I have never felt better, but nevertheless, these things must be done.” The exact duration of the exam remains unclear, but Trump spent more than five hours at the facility before leaving on Air Force One for a weekend trip to Florida.
While White House officials say a detailed report will be shared, questions linger over how much information will be released. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that a physician’s readout would be made public ‘as soon as we possibly can,’ adding that it would be comprehensive.
Leavitt commented that, “I can confirm the president is in very good shape.” She confirmed that the procedure did not require anaesthesia.
Trump, now the oldest president ever to be sworn in on Inauguration Day, has historically offered limited insight into his health. Despite frequently raising concerns about Joe Biden’s age and mental fitness, Trump has often kept his medical details vague.

His last major health update came after the July 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. Instead of releasing medical records, Trump ally and Texas congressman Ronny Jackson published a memo confirming a gunshot wound to the former president’s right ear.
Back in November 2023, a letter from Dr Bruce A Aronwald described Trump as being in ‘excellent’ physical and mental health but offered few concrete metrics like weight, blood pressure, or test results. The letter also noted that Trump had reduced his weight and excelled in cognitive exams.
As a candidate and president, Trump’s disclosures have stood in contrast with the norms of medical transparency in the Oval Office, a standard that has often been unevenly applied across administrations. For example, President Woodrow Wilson’s debilitating 1919 stroke remained largely hidden from the public at the time.
One of Trump’s most cited moments on cognitive fitness came in 2020, when he appeared on television repeating five random nouns — ‘Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV’ claiming they were part of a cognitive test he had aced.
Trump, three years younger than Biden, was five months older than Biden was during his own 2021 inauguration, making him the oldest president in U.S. history to assume office at the start of a term.
