Washington: Donald Trump has blamed ‘Democrat Curse’ for struggles with Jewish voters at Israeli-American Council national summit held in Washington. Donald Trump raised frustration over ongoing struggles to win support from Jewish voters.
Facing the crowd, Trump expressed that Democrats had placed a “curse” on Jewish voters, regretting that his efforts to strengthen ties with Israel had not converted into Jewish support at the ballot box.
Trump noted that his Jewish voter backing increased gradually from 25% in 2016 to 29% in 2020, but argued that of his record, “I should be at 100%.” Trump clarified that he had been “the best president by far” for Israel, marking his administration’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the Golan Heights as Israeli territory, and the withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.
The former president’s remarks were wound together with criticisms of Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of failing to protect Jewish Americans in the wake of evolving anti-Semite protests. He went further, claiming without evidence that Israel would stop existing within “two or three years” if he did not win the 2024 presidential election.
Trump also revisited his long-standing offence over Jewish Americans’ Democratic voting tendencies, suggesting they should “have their heads examined.” He justifies his candidacy as essential to Israel’s survival, while touting his immense popularity in Israel and joking about running for prime minister.
Introduced by Miriam Adelson, the widow of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, Trump summarised his speech with a rallying cry to the Jewish community to vote for him, reiterating his role as their “defender” and stressing the existential risks if they promoted to support Democrats.
