London: US President Donald Trump has arrived in the United Kingdom for a historic second state visit, a distinction that no previous American leader has received.
Landing at London Stansted Airport aboard Air Force One, Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were flown by Marine One to Winfield House, the residence of the US ambassador near Regent’s Park.
The visit has come at a time of renewed diplomatic focus, with both nations emphasising the strength of the transatlantic alliance. British officials have described it as an opportunity to reinforce what they call ‘the strongest partnership in the world.’
On September 17, Trump is scheduled to attend a day of royal pageantry at Windsor Castle, where King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Catherine will participate in the ceremonial welcome. The events include a gun salute, military inspection, and a carriage procession within the Windsor estate.
More than 1,300 personnel from the British Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force are involved, creating the largest guard of honour ever assembled for a state visit to the UK.

A joint aerial display is also planned, with F-35 jets and the Red Arrows flying over Windsor, to be viewed by Trump and Prime Minister Keir Starmer, symbolising close military cooperation. The highlight of the visit will be a state banquet in St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle, where both leaders are expected to deliver speeches.
The trip also has a significant economic dimension. A technology investment deal worth £31 billion ($39 billion) has been announced, with £22 billion ($28 billion) coming from Microsoft.
The agreement covers artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and nuclear energy cooperation, with the UK government highlighting its potential for creating highly skilled jobs. Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has also confirmed a £5 billion ($6.8 billion) commitment to AI research in Britain.
For Trump, the visit is both a diplomatic mission and a personal engagement with King Charles. Trump has described the monarch as ‘an elegant gentleman’ and ‘a friend,’ and has reiterated his fondness for the UK. British leaders are expected to press the US administration on maintaining NATO commitments and continuing strong support for Ukraine.
This state visit underscores the combined weight of royal ceremony and political negotiation, with both nations leveraging soft power and strategic alignment to advance shared goals.
