Washington, D.C.: US President Donald Trump has named conservative commentator and former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino as FBI Deputy Director.

Announcing the appointment on social media, Trump depicted Bongino as “a man of incredible love and passion for our Country,” adding that he would serve under newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel. Bongino, 50, previously served in the NYPD and as a Secret Service agent, protecting Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

In recent years, he has gained importance as a right-wing media figure, hosting The Dan Bongino Show, a podcast known for its strong conservative stance. His social media presence frequently attracts more engagement than major networks like Fox News and CNN.

Following the announcement, Bongino expressed gratitude to X stating that, “Thank you, Mr President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel.” Trump noted that Bongino is “willing and prepared” to step out from his podcast to assume the role. Trump added that, “Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly.”

Bongino has yet to run for Congress three times and has been a vocal supporter of Trump. His podcast often features content critical of the former president’s opponents, with recent episodes titled “Trump Keeps Delivering And The Libs Are Seething” and “The Only People Who Love Crime Are Criminals!!!”

Known for his combative political style, Bongino has frequently disagreed with critics, including a long-running online feud with author Stephen King.

His appointment follows the narrow Senate confirmation of Kash Patel as FBI director, a decision that sparked Democratic concerns over potential political retribution. Patel, however, has denied any schedules for partisan targeting and has pledged to “rebuild” the agency.
