Tel Aviv: A truck has rammed into a bus stop near the Israeli Military Base in Glilot, just north of Tel Aviv, resulting in dozens of injuries. According to Israeli authorities, at least six individuals are in critical condition, while others stay trapped under the devastation as emergency responders work to extract them.
Local reports demonstrate the happening may have been intentional, with armed civilians in the area reportedly interfering to “neutralise” the driver of the truck after he was seen driving directly into the crowd. Israeli police have yet to confirm these reports but are actively investigating the cases, currently treating the incident as potentially deliberate.
Emergency response teams, including personnel from Magen David Adom (MDA), were quickly dispatched to the scene. In a statement, MDA reported that, “At 10:08 AM, a report was received in MDA’s 101 Emergency Call Center in the Yarkon Region of a truck hitting a bus stop on Aharon Yariv Boulevard in Ramat Hasharon. MDA EMTs and Paramedics are currently delivering medical treatment on-site to dozens of casualties.”
Many of the injured are elderly individuals who had just departed a bus to visit the IDF base, according to a spokesman for Israel’s ambulance service, as quoted by Haaretz. The area near the crash site has been cordoned off, with helicopters circling overhead to assist in the response.
Television coverage revealed police securing the perimeter while emergency personnel followed the injured and worked to clear debris from the area. The situation remains under close observation as authorities continue to evaluate the incident and gather further details.
