United States: Strong thunderstorms and tornadoes swept across Tennessee, resulting in at least six fatalities.

Emergency management officials reported that three people had been confirmed dead in Madison, Tennessee, which is located just north of Nashville.

“We have teams assessing damage and looking for patients. Unfortunately, we can confirm there are three fatalities as a result of the severe weather on Nesbitt Lane,” the Nashville Office of Emergency Management shared on X.

“At this time we can confirm that three people are deceased, two adults and one child as a result of the tornado that touched down this afternoon. Additionally, 23 people have been treated at the hospital,” Montgomery County government said in a statement.

According to officials, they are still in the “search and rescue phase” in order to find out if there are any more victims.

“This is a sad day for our community. We are praying for those who are injured, lost loved ones, and lost their homes,” Montgomery County Mayor Wes Golden stated.

Authorities in Sumner County reported that a tornado that struck Gallatin and Hendersonville, Tennessee, northeast of Nashville, on Saturday caused “significant damage.”

“At this time, we are working to respond to multiple calls throughout the county and to establish Red Cross shelters in Gallatin and Hendersonville,” the communities’ mayors said in a joint statement.
