United States: The public sale for the American singer, Taylor Swift’s US tour was postponed by ticketing company Ticketmaster due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and limited remaining ticket inventory.
Swift’s first tour in five years, the Eras Tour, was scheduled to go on sale to the general public on November 18th.
But Ticketmaster tweeted that due to “extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand”, the sale has been cancelled.
The decision has been made after the presale for the tour caused the website to crash, leaving many fans angry and unable to obtain tickets. Fans were previously urged to stay patient by the company on Twitter as millions attempted to get tickets during the presale, creating historically enormous demand.
After experiencing long wait times and website disruptions during the presales for the tour, Swift’s followers, known as Swifties, have criticised the business on social media. Followers reported spending up to eight hours in online queues to buy the tickets, which ranged in price from $49 to $449. However, many of them found they were too late.
Swift has not made any public remarks about the situation. The 32-year-old singer’s tour will begin on March 18, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, and conclude in August 2023. During the tour, Swift will be joined by a variety of musicians, such as Phoebe Bridgers and the bands Paramore and Haim.
Since Adele’s 30 was released in 2021, Swift’s most recent album Midnights, which was released in October, had the highest first-week album sales. It also gained the title of the year’s most streamed album with 72.5 million plays over the course of the first week.
